Teaching – Lace and Beads

I’ve been teaching lacemaking since 1995. I teach Honiton, Flanders, Binche, Brugge Flower, Chrysanthemum plus Torchon laces. I also teach beginners beading. Contact me for more information if you are interested in attending either a weekly class of a day/weekend courses.

From February 2025 I no longer work full time have some flexibility for teaching!

Weekly classes

I teach a weekly evening class, Lacemaking and Beading with Susan, at Crownway Community Centre in Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows, (WA12 9DA). The class runs from 18:00 – 20:30 on a Tuesday evening most of the year (we don’t automatically close for school holidays). The class is specifically targeted at beginners and improvers in either lacemaking or beading as there are very limited opportunities in the area for new people to learn lacemaking currently.

There is currently a core group of 7 attending the weekly classes.

The centre is 5 minutes drive from the Haydock junction of the M6 (J23) and the East Lancashire Road (A580).

Classes cost £8 a lesson but everyone’s first class is free. If you are interested in attending please contact me via the contact page on this website, I have lacemaking equipment that can be used by beginners at a first session and usually have some second hand equipment for more permeant use.a
